The recent annual report released by the International Energy Agency indicates a significant growth trajectory for global photovoltaic solar capacity. Projections suggest that by 2023, this capacity will surge to 375 gigawatts, marking a notable 31.8% increase in total installed capacity compared to previous years.

1. The UAE has proposed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In November 2023, the Al Dhafra PV2 solar power project in the UAE was connected to the grid, capable of meeting the electricity needs of 200,000 households and reducing carbon emissions by 2.4 million tons annually. This will increase the proportion of clean energy in the UAE’s energy structure to over 13%.


2. Saudi Arabia has set a goal in its “Vision 2030” to reach a photovoltaic installed capacity of 40 gigawatts by 2030 and invest 380 billion riyals in renewable energy projects. 


3. Qatar has proposed that solar power will account for 20% of electricity generation by 2030.

     Transitioning to Africa, according to the African Solar Industry Association's "2023 Outlook Report" released last year, indicates a rapid expansion of the photovoltaic industry in Africa. Leading nations in photovoltaic construction projects include South Africa, Morocco, and Egypt. For instance, Egypt has proposed in its “2035 Comprehensive Sustainable Energy Strategy” that renewable energy generation capacity will reach 61 gigawatts by 2035, with photovoltaic generation capacity reaching 43 gigawatts.
