Prime Minister Jay Weatherill says a network of at least 50,000 home solar systems supported by battery storage will create the world's largest "virtual" power plant to cut energy costs.
Mr Weatherill said that trials of solar panels and Tesla batteries that had been installed on 1,100 Trust houses were in progress and that the costs would be paid by electricity sales.
The project will then be extended to an additional 24,000 public housing projects and available to other families in order to connect at least 50,000 Adelaide families.

"For those who wish to participate in the program to open up interested registrations, the government will issue a market notice this week asking retailers to deliver the program.
