Debbie Dalle Vedove, director of HSR, said the city's bus department announced on Tuesday that an electric bus had begun to "track" diesel, compressed natural gas or hybrid buses on various routes.
"We are evaluating the battery range and the quality of driving, testing the battery up and down the cliff for our mechanic to take a look," says Dalle Vedove . ".
"This is a great opportunity.
"Sorry for the bus user: experimental electric buses are the lender for the manufacturer's New Flyer, so it can't actually be used to ship passengers around the city.
Dalle Vedove said "show bus" is not equipped with all the passenger safety and accessibility equipment required to allow riders to test.
Hopeful passengers should not mistake the electric bus for the available city vehicle, as the electric experiment will not have HSR marks and will not travel according to the city schedule.
HSR actually plans to test-
In the coming months, drive up to three different buses and contact manufacturers such as BYD and Proterra.
Ideally, these buses will also help the city to evaluate different charging options, such as overnight in facilities or overnight in routes.
Start testing lithium in downtown Toronto
Last spring, Ion battery bus promised to buy at least 30 electric buses in time for £ 2019 in April.
HSR will report the test results to the council sometime in 2019.
