My wife bought me Vivitar DVR785HD for Christmas.DVR785HD is a replacement for Gopro Hero 3, which costs a fraction of the cost.I believe Vivitar got a cool review on Amazon as people compared it to the much higher cost Gopro Hero 3.In my opinion, Vivitar DVR785HD is an excellent action camera at an affordable price!DVR785DR does not have all the options and resolution settings for Gopro Hero 3, but it has 5 pixel image elements, the same as Gopro.Built-in Lithium-Please note that the micro SD card is not included and is required before any video or picture is taken.A typical 32 mb micro SD card will cost you another $20.I was surprised by the size of the camera that was removed from the waterproof housing, it was small and only a few ounces heavy.The camera has three modes: video capture, picture capture and on-board video capture.Video and picture capture are self-explanatory.The manual specifies the use of on-board capture mode when moving and when using a helmet or bicycle holder.I think it has some mechanism to reduce jitter in on-board capture mode.Some people bought the camera and used it as a low-cost dashboard camera for the car.The camera is equipped with a bicycle handle camera holder, but it should also be suitable for most motorcycle handles.You may need to be more creative when installing the camera on a sports bike with a clipon handlebars.In on-board capture mode, it captures the video in a 5 minute clip and saves it in AVI file format.It looks like the Vivitar experience software, which includes video capture software, will allow you to download clips to your computer and then stitch them together.The included video capture software also allows you to easily upload videos to media sites such as YouTube.I set my DVR785HD to vehicle capture mode and have it run for an hour and after an hour it still has a lot of power left in the internal lithium battery and there is on the micro SD cardThe only downside to this camera is that in order to change the shooting mode, you have to remove it from the waterproof housing.Given the features and low cost of Vivitar DVR785HD, I think this action camera will be a great gift for outdoor sports enthusiasts who are active in your life.Maybe a great gift for yourself!
