Tamil Nadu will soon reach a new solar energy policy with Tamil Nadu Energy Development Bureau (TEDA)
The National Renewable Energy node agency proposed the 2018 draft Tamil Nadu solar energy policy to solicit opinions from various stakeholders.
It envisions incentives for a variety of energy generation designed to facilitate the manufacture of solar components, including solar cells, inverters, installation structures and batteries in the state.
Prior to that, chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami announced that it was reviewing the solar policy that was launched in 2012.
Under the draft policy, solar energy will be a major contributor to the future of sustainable energy in Tamil Nadu and will be the mainstream energy source in the state by 2022.
Green work the development of the sector will provide green work for a considerable number of people, and by 2022 Tamil Nadu will become an international climate leader in emerging economies.
By 2022, the installed capacity of Tamil Nadu will reach 8,884 MW.
In this goal, the policy says, consumer-scale solar generators will reach 40%.
The policy will apply to projects, programs and facilities related to solar photovoltaic energy (solar PV)
And solar energy.
Once the policy is finalized, unless replaced or modified by another policy, the policy will remain in effect for the next five years.
The draft policy also sets clear goals such as that all public buildings will be authorized to meet 30% of solar demand by 2022.
It added that the task of street lights and water supply is to meet 30% of solar energy demand by 2022.
Under the policy, all government departments should replace 10% of the existing fleet with solar energy-

Any building type that needs to comply with energy-efficient building regulations will follow ECBC's compliance guidelines for installing solar photovoltaic and solar thermal energy systems, the company said.

The policy says ECBC is authorized by law.
In terms of incentives, the draft policy states that solar energy will be exempt from electricity charges, grid connectivity, open access, transshipment, banking and cross-cuttingSubsidy costs.
It added that appropriate incentive plans will be designed to promote solar power generation in the agricultural sector.
The draft policy also said the Tamil Nadu government would promote the manufacture of solar components.
Land will be set for the development of manufacturing.
It added that a single window process will be designed for all departmental approvals, including the set time limit for each approval.
