KITCHENER —
White container for Kitchener substation-
With more renewable energy, Wilmot Hydro at 59 Graber Place will play an important role in providing electricity.
Currently, the property has 10 containers and the battery can be charged and discharged at the same time.
The facility can provide two megawatts of electricity for three hours to the grid.
It was built by Chicago.
Based on energy, it is quieter than the substation next to it.
"By the end of this year, it may be put into use," said Gabriel Wapner, director of development at hercarter.
"It will be put into use next month.
"Hercarter Energy plans to expand the facility and share information at a small public meeting with some community residents at Stanley Park Community Library on Friday afternoon.
Wapner said he wanted to put another 10 containers on containers already in the hotel to accommodate more batteries.
In addition, the company will submit a bid next week to build a second power storage facility on the site.
It is not known whether the second facility is made up of more containers or new buildings.
He won seven contracts for IESO in 2014.
Independent power system operator-
Seven power storage facilities, including a kitchen, were built in three different locations.
All of this is under construction and should be put into work by the end of the year, including at Graber Place.
IESO monitors and balances the province's power grid in the second monthby-
The second Foundation, which becomes more tricky as solar panels and wind turbines generate more power.
Renewable energy generation is intermittent.
For solar energy during the day, mainly for wind at night-
Therefore, power storage facilities such as Graber Place are needed to ensure that there is enough power to meet the demand during peak hours in the morning and evening.
"Energy storage allows you to store the energy generated at night and deploy during the day," Wapner said . ".
Several residents of Dalewood Drive, which lives next to the dal substation property, want to plant trees to screen containers, and security cameras prevent graffiti artists and construction workers from complying with the city's bylaws, limiting noisy work to 7m. to 7 p. m.
In the past, turbines were used to meet demand during peak consumption times.
But it's expensive, and it's a lot of pollution.
"Until recently, battery storage has not been cost competitive yet, but today it already exists and costs continue to fall," Wapner said . ".
Power storage facilities will become more and more important in the future.
Coal closure in Ontario
Some nuclear reactors have begun to retire.
Renewable energy sources of solar and wind energy need to be stored in the battery bank to meet the demand.
Hercarter will also build a power storage facility in Stratford, which will be in a 20,000-square-foot building.
