state government commits $30 million to the battery of the nation strategy - battery energy storage
Through Hydro Tasmania, the state government has committed $30 million to the federal fund in order to invest in the first phase of the national strategy by 2021.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that with a $56 million contribution from the federal government, the government's investment in the second connector between tazhou and the mainland will help reduce the price of electricity, and end the recent power outage affecting families and businesses.
Mr. Morrison will join Premier Will Hodgman in a statement on Wednesday at Lake Setana.
"The state's battery is a vision to use technology to take advantage of the natural advantages of the state of Tasmania to solve the problems of our electricity market," Mr Morrison said . ".
"We want to work with the Hodgman government to provide batteries to the country because it is this technology that generates clean and affordable electricity that will make the electricity supply in Australia more reliable.
"National investment will support the feasibility assessment of the three shortlisted pumped storage power stations in the North
West of the state.
The combined storage capacity of these three locations is 40GWh, and the battery of the national strategy can provide new schedulable power up to 2500 MW.
The batteries of the National and Marinus Link projects are expected to create up to 3800 direct and indirect jobs during construction and provide up to $7 billion in economic stimulus, mainly in the North
West tower and Victoria area.

Construction projects are a huge economic opportunity for tazhou.
Hodgman said: "In the next decade, the country's battery will create thousands of jobs for the Tasmania state and provide billions of dollars in investment . "
"These initiatives will strengthen our position as a national renewable energy power.
"At the moment, due to Basslink's limitations, approximately 400 MW of schedulable power cannot be delivered to the mainland, and Basslink is the first Tasmania state to the Victoria interconnector.
