With the bus rerouting to facilitate the construction of the Gandhipuram flyover, there is an increasing number of vehicles on mettualayam Road and there is a growing demand for improved road safety.
One of the requirements is the installation of street lights on Mettupalayam Road between the Temple of Sethi and tudia.

Now, Coimbatore has said it is installing street lights.
On Highway 7, there will be more than 200 light poles every 25 to 35 metres.
Each pole is 5 km long and two lights are about 36 watts.
The cost of the project is around rupees. 3 crore.
The work started about 15 days ago.
